African Elephant Rescued After Poison Dart Attack
A 4 ton African elephant was left to slowly rot from the inside after cruel poachers shot it with a poisoned arrow. After being safely tranquillised, the medical team from the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and Kenyan Wildlife Service cut open a huge absess on the elephant's side, before removing dead muscle tissue and extracting the arrow. The vets then cleaned and packed the wound with green clay, a substance believed to have strong antibacterial properties. Awakening from the anaesthetic, the elephant rose from its slumber, fit enough to return to the herd.
