Creator of Batmobile Dies at 89

The man who is responsible for creating the batmobile has died. George Barris, the custom car legend, passed away at his home at the age of 89 after battling cancer. Barris designed specials vehicles for the biggest names in Hollywood including Elvis and Frank Sinatra, but he is best known for creating the iconic batmobile. Barris says when he read the script with the pows and bangs, he knew that’s exactly what he wanted the car to be able to do adding, “I wanted it to be as big a character as the actors themselves.” Rest in Peace.
