Now A Transgender Doll
A ruling from the White House rolled back Transgender rights this week, but the fashion and beauty industries are going a different route. They are continuing to take strides in an inclusive direction. The world’s first transgender doll was unveiled at the New York Toy Fair earlier this month by the Tonner Doll Company. The history-making doll is based on Jazz Jennings. Jennings is a transgender teen, advocate and author of a memoir speaking out about her experiences. Jennings told her family she identified as female when she was only 5-years-old—making her one of the youngest people to publicly identify as trans. Tonner is known for making high-end collectible dolls, but the Jazz-inspired doll, which drops in July, is aimed at kids.
