identify the victims of the plane crash in Indonesia
Relatives devastated by the pain yesterday provided DNA samples to help identify the victims of the Lion Air plane that crashed in Indonesia with 189 people on board. At the same time, passengers on a previous flight of the injured aircraft reported problems, such as a rapid descent that frightened those on board. Rescuers tracked down where the plane crashed, in the sea, northeast of Jakarta, and sent 26 bags of corpses to experts in forensic identification, while the airline transferred scores of bereaved relatives to the capital. The Boeing 737 MAX 8, just two months old, crashed Monday morning in the Java Sea 13 minutes after taking off from Jakarta, heading to an island near Sumatra. The pilot asked permission to return to the airport only two or three minutes after leaving, indicating that there was a problem although the cause is unknown at the moment. The Indonesian government ordered that all devices of the same series be reviewed.
