Ovidio Guzmán son of 'El Chapo' 'free to safeguard citizens in Culiacán, Sinaloa

At a press conference with the headlines of Sedena, Marina, National Guard and the National Intelligence Center, Durazo said that the patrol members repelled the aggression and entered the house where there were four people, including Ovidio Guzmán López, son by Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán. "Patrol personnel repelled the aggression and took control of the house, locating four occupants inside. During the action, one of them was identified as Ovid Guzmán López," said the Secretary of Security. "The previous thing generated that several organized crime groups surrounded the house with a force greater than that of the patrol," he said. He also said that "other groups carried out violent actions against citizenship in various parts of the city, generating a panic situation." Without clarifying whether Ovidio Guzmán was arrested, Durazo reported that after the violence that broke out and to safeguard the citizens, the security cabinet decided to "suspend such actions." "With the purpose of safeguarding the superior good of the integrity and tranquility of the Culiacan society, the officials of the security cabinet agreed to suspend such actions, we also made the decision to move to the city of Culiacán to conduct the corresponding actions," he said. In the capital of Sinaloa this afternoon there were intense shootings and road blockades at various points after the location of Ovidio Guzmán López, son of Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán. The state government issued a statement to call the inhabitants of Culiacán to remain calm. Alfonso Durazo, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, confirmed that federal forces located Ovidio Guzmán López, but he did not make it clear if he was detained or was released. Ovid Guzmán López is wanted by US authorities on charges of distributing cocaine, methamphetamines and marijuana from Mexico to that country from 2008 to 2018.
