Donald Trump says he’s leaving DOJ's criminal investigation into the Russia probe up to Barr
Donald Trump said he is leaving the Department of Justice’s investigation into the Russia probe up to Attorney General William Barr. Trump made the statement in response to questions from reporters on the White House lawn amid reports that the Justice Department shifted its probe -- on the origins of the special counsel’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election -- into a criminal investigation. Democrats on Thursday raised concerns that the Justice Department may have "lost its independence and become a vehicle for President Trump's political revenge." Trump also backed Rudy Giuliani, his personal attorney who has been criticized for trying to get dirt on Trump’s political opponents, as a “great crime fighter” and “a fine man.”
