An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 shakes the island of Jamdena in Indonesia

An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 on Wednesday shook the island of Jamdena, in southeastern Indonesia, without the Indonesian authorities reporting on casualties or material damage. The earthquake occurred near the west coast of the island, the largest of the Tanimbar Islands in the province of Molucas and whose capital is Saumlaki - with a population of 12 thousand people -, said the United States Geological Survey (USGS), which records seismic activity worldwide. The tremor, which was located about 61 kilometers deep, was also felt on other islands in the region and even in neighboring East Timor.
