Bonafont plant in Juan C Bonilla is taken over by Puebla sinkhole and extraction well is shut down
A group of members of the Frente de Pueblos en Defensa del Agua y de la Tierra Morelos, Puebla y Tlaxcala (FDPAyTMPT), as well as defenders of social struggles from different municipalities, entered the Bonafont bottling plant located in the municipality of Juan C. Bonilla, after declaring the authorities and the company guilty of water exploitation. The seizure of the facilities occurred after the conclusion of the assembly held at the sit-in that they maintain in front of the building and which was not attended by representatives of the Conagua or the company, who were summoned this Sunday at 10:00 am. In the absence of the counterpart, the water defenders held a trial and declared the government institutions guilty, as well as the bottling company for the excessive extraction of the liquid. Around 2:20 p.m., under the arguments of the principles of autonomy, they decreed the reappropriation of their territory that Bonafont had expropriated from them; hence they entered the property, after breaking the padlocks on the accesses to the bottling plant. In this sense, the protesters pointed out that the facilities will be used for the Casa de los Pueblos and as a space for the integral reconstruction of the communities.
