Andrea Fuentes tells how she pulled Anita Álvarez out of the water
Spanish Andrea Fuentes, coach of swimmer Anita Alvarez, has told on Cadena Ser's 'El Larguero' how she rescued the athlete after she fainted in the water and sank to the bottom of the pool during the World Swimming Championships in Budapest. Alvarez was finishing her exercise during the artistic swimming solo freestyle final at the Margarita Island pool when, just as she was about to finish her performance, she lost consciousness and remained at the bottom of the pool without showing any signs of reaction. Quickly, Fuentes, who was in street clothes, dove into the water to pull her up while medical assistance arrived. In the video, the narration is illustrated with photos of the rescue, showing how Fuentes swam to the bottom of the pool, then grabbed Alvarez and pulled herself to the surface, where she was assisted by one of the lifeguards.
