SRI LANKA: Thousands of protesters ENTER President RAJAPAKSA's OFFICIAL RESIDENCE
Thousands of demonstrators have entered Saturday the official residence of the president of Sri Lanka in Colombo, during a day of mass protests to demand the resignation of Gotabaya Rajapaksa for his management of the economic crisis. The demonstrators broke through the security perimeter surrounding Rajapaksa's official residence in the heart of Colombo, despite the fact that the police used tear gas to prevent the intrusion, reported the local newspaper Ada Derana, which stated that the president had previously left the area. A spokesman for the Colombo National Hospital told the media that at least twelve people were injured. In addition, thousands of people gathered in Colombo, many of them coming from other parts of the country, to mark the third month of continuous protests to demand Rajapaksa's resignation.
