Florida Police Officers Help Baby Sea Turtles Find Ocean Police in St Pete Beach, Florida, said their officers responded to a call to aid sea turtle hatchlings who struggled to find their way to the ocean on Tuesday, August 2. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said a hotel security guard called when the hotel was overrun with hatchlings. The guard collected about 15 baby turtles before calling for reinforcements, the sheriff’s office said. Sergeant Mackesy, Deputy Lopez, and Deputy Wheeler were dispatched to the hotel, and found the sea turtle babies “all over the area, including in the hotel’s pool, in the bushes, in the bathroom, and even in the storm drain.” Video posted by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office shows the officers guiding the baby turtles to the sea. The post joked, “We think Finding Nemo’s pal Crush would be pretty proud of this crew and the deputies too!”
