The Baguette Is Now a UNESCO World Treasure

The ingredients are simple, but the cultural impact of the French baguette is profound. UNESCO, or the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, has chosen the crusty baton of bread to be on the Intangible Cultural Heritage list. France makes an estimated 6 billion baguettes per year. It's been a staple of the French diet for over 100 years. The "artisanal know-how and culture of baguette bread" now has UNESCO’s endorsement and protection.
