Japan’s ‘Joker’ and ‘incel’ knife attackers in court over 2021 Tokyo subway incidents

Separate trials have begun for two men accused of wanton acts of violence in 2021 when they attacked passengers on crowded Tokyo subway trains leaving more than 25 people injured. Yusuke Tsushima and Kyota Hattori each face charges of attempted murder for their roles in stabbing sprees that occurred within months of each other. Tsushima told police he targeted “happy women” in his attacks, but denied murderous intent.
