Popular diet sweetener Aspartame may be causing cancer: WHO

Aspartame, one of the world’s most widely-used sweeteners, will soon be listed as “possibly carcinogenic to humans” for the first time by the World Health Organization’s (WHO) cancer research arm, the International Agency for Research on Cancer. Aspartame is found in many diet products including Coca-Cola soft drinks and Extra chewing gum made by Mars. The WHO ruling will reportedly be made public in July.
