18-year-old driver Dilano Van't Hoff dies in terrible accident at Spa-Francorchamps

Dutchman Dilano Van't Hoff lost his life on July 1, 2023, at the age of 18 after a tragic accident during a race of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. In very wet conditions and poor visibility due to the spray, a chain accident occurred at the fastest point of the circuit, the Kemmel straight, the one after the famous Eau Rouge curve and the Raidillon, up to the arrival at the Les Combes curve. Several vehicles collided, moving away from the line as they could, with the bad luck that the single-seater driven by Dilano Van't Hoff remained perpendicular to the line, another participant arriving at very high speed and impacting with the dreaded 'T' shaped accident, very similar to the one that cost the life of Anthoine Hubert in the summer of 2019, at this same circuit, but at an earlier point. The pilot was extracted without consciousness from the vehicle and already in the medical center all attempts at resuscitation proved unsuccessful, only being able to confirm the death that the organization has decided to make official approximately three hours after the event.
