Sudden torrential rain sparks widespread flooding in Hong Kong

Hong Kong was lashed by sudden torrential rain on September 7, 2023, causing widespread flooding across the city. The Hong Kong Observatory raised its highest level blackstorm warning overnight, saying that 158.1mm (6.2in) of rain fell at its headquarters between 11pm and midnight, the most in a one-hour spell since records began in 1884.
