President Daniel Noboa says Ecuador is at war with criminal gangs

More than 130 prison guards and other personnel were still being held by inmates in at least five prisons in Ecuador on Wednesday, in an escalation of violence that began over the weekend and which President Daniel Noboa has described as a "state of war".
