End of the world: 2012, or is it 2011?
by Takaki
http://www.nma.tv/ Some people believe Armageddon is nearly upon us. They have set the day of the rapture as May 21, 2011. The date upstages the Mayans, whose calendar suggests the world will end on December 21, 2012. 89-year-old US radio preacher Harold Camping is behind the 2011 date, though he originally proclaimed the world would end in 1994. Modern prophets like Camping have been discredited time and again. Taiwan's own Chen Hon-ming claimed God would appear on TV in 1998. But is God really needed to end the world? We humans are perfectly capable of bringing about our own demise.
