Baby Beauty Queen Gets Slurred

The American-style Mini Miss UK beauty pageant came to this country in March - the brainchild of a middle-aged former beauty queen named Pam. It's a familiar story of pushy mums, fake tan, real tears and worryingly inappropriate glamour as we follow three of the contestants, Tyla, Madison and Sasha (aged nine, nine and seven), as they go about preparing for their big day in a Milton Keynes leisure centre. With university leavers now more unlikely than ever to get jobs, you can only wish them luck at cashing in on their looks. But those of you who watch programmes like this in order to be fascinated and appalled at the same time will not be short of villains to boo either. Tyla's mum admits that when her daughter was born she was quite worried because she couldn't believe her child would ever be cute.
